The Dangers of Silence

Silence Isn't Golden

Pastor Kara Diaz

In this powerful and thought-provoking message, Pastor Kara Diaz challenges us to reconsider some of society's common sayings like, “politics don’t belong in church,” “silence is golden,” “love is love,” and “just follow your heart.” Pastor Kara highlights how the enemy often uses these phrases to twist the truth, encouraging believers to stay silent rather than stand up for God’s Word and the moral foundations He designed for a healthy society.

Pastor Kara shares how the downfall of every nation often begins with the erosion of the sanctity of marriage. When marriage between a man and woman is redefined, families weaken, divorce rates rise, and the value of life is diminished. This leads to a mindset where everyone "follows their heart," doing what seems right in their own eyes, resulting in chaos and paving the way for tyranny, socialism, and Marxism.

America was founded by brave men and women who stood for Biblical truths, even willing to die for the sake of God’s Word and the freedom to worship. Pastor Kara reminds us that all it takes for evil to thrive is for good people to do nothing. One of the most critical ways we can take action is by voting. She pointed out that 60% of Christians do not vote, emphasizing that not voting is essentially a vote for evil.

Matthew 5:14 calls us to be “the light of the world, a city set on a hill.” We are meant to shine God’s truth from the mountaintops, not hide in silence.

Pastor Kara also laid out three non-negotiable principles when it comes to choosing the right candidate:
1.
The Sanctity of Life: Does the candidate stand for life, believing it begins at conception as described in Psalm 139:13-16?
2.
Marriage and Gender: Do they uphold marriage between a man and a woman and recognize that only God defines our gender?
3.
Support for Israel: Do they bless Israel? As Psalm 122:7 reminds us, God desires peace and prosperity for Jerusalem and promises blessings for those who support Israel.

Pastor Kara urged us to vote based on the policies candidates stand for, not their personalities. Our vote is an expression of our agreement with their principles and values.

This message is full of wisdom and conviction, challenging us to rise up and be the voice God has called us to be.

This Sunday at Vida, we were challenged with a simple but powerful question: Are we merely Christians who know the Word, or are we actually participating in what we believe?

We can spend so much of our lives looking for the extraordinary that we miss the sacredness of the ordinary. We wait for the next season. The breakthrough. The opportunity. The relationship to change. The circumstances to improve. We imagine that when something finally shifts, then our real life will begin. But God is not only the God of where we're going. He is the God of right here and right now.

We are living in what many have called an epidemic of loneliness. Although we are more connected technologically than ever before, many people still lack deep, meaningful friendships. As the Church, one of our greatest distinguishing marks should be our ability to love one another. Jesus said the world would recognize His disciples by the way they love.

Healthy relationships don't happen by accident. They are built intentionally as we allow God to shape the way we love, encourage, and walk with one another. This week, Pastor Ben continued our Kingdom Relationships series by focusing on two foundational pillars: vision and faith.

Every relationship in our lives isn't meant to carry the same weight. Some are casual, others are seasonal, and a few become deep Kingdom relationships worth intentionally investing in. As Pastor Ben reminded us this Sunday, healthy Kingdom relationships don't happen by accident—they're built on self-control, responsibility, and truth.
