What Have You Sown?

Pastor Ben Díaz

Much of what you're experiencing in your life today is a direct result of the seeds you’ve been planting. The principle of sowing and reaping was established at creation. In Genesis 1:12, we read, “The land produced vegetation—all sorts of seed-bearing plants, and trees with seed-bearing fruit. Their seeds produced plants and trees of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.”

If you grasp this principle and apply it in its positive sense it will empower and prosper you. Pastor said, “we are farmers” and what we plant continues to produce after it’s kind just like seeds in a garden. A single seed will produce an apple tree, and that tree will continue to produce apples with seeds in them forever. The seeds reproduce exponentially and even produce for future generations!

This  principle is great news if you’ve been planting good seeds, but bad news if you've sown seeds that are harming your life. However, Pastor brought us hope by teaching that, regardless of the seeds we've planted in the past, we can declare those seeds uprooted and start today by planting good seeds for the future.

Whether you’re sowing financially, sowing your time in service, being a friend, or making healthy choices, the principle remains: your seed will always produce after its kind. Pastor shared a personal testimony from when he and Kara were newly married and on a tight budget. They didn’t have enough money for a vacation, so they chose to apply God’s principle of sowing and reaping. They gave $500 to another couple for a weekend getaway. Since then, they have never lacked for vacations! They have received many incredible trips—visits to Kenya, South Africa, and Hawaii—the harvest from that seed continues to multiply. God watches over the seed, does the impossible, and makes whatever you sow— grow!

When you sow financially, you're not only investing in the kingdom, but you’re demonstrating your trust in God. Just like a farmer who plants a seed and doesn't grieve its loss, we trust God to watch over our seed, and in time, He will bring the harvest. The farmer tends to the seed, waiting expectantly for the fruit to come in; similarly, when we give, we trust God and believe He will bring the increase.

Pastor reminded us that it takes diligent work to bring in the harvest. We have to go out and pick the fruit. But the harvest isn't a one time event, our seed will continue reproducing a whole orchard of fruit trees with continual fruit!

Pastor said, “You don’t live by what you earn, but by what you sow.” The God of Abundance wants to get His blessings to us, and that’s why He established this powerful principle. Everything Pastor has received in his life, he said, has come through the application of this law of nature.

This Sunday at Vida, we were challenged with a simple but powerful question: Are we merely Christians who know the Word, or are we actually participating in what we believe?

We can spend so much of our lives looking for the extraordinary that we miss the sacredness of the ordinary. We wait for the next season. The breakthrough. The opportunity. The relationship to change. The circumstances to improve. We imagine that when something finally shifts, then our real life will begin. But God is not only the God of where we're going. He is the God of right here and right now.

We are living in what many have called an epidemic of loneliness. Although we are more connected technologically than ever before, many people still lack deep, meaningful friendships. As the Church, one of our greatest distinguishing marks should be our ability to love one another. Jesus said the world would recognize His disciples by the way they love.

Healthy relationships don't happen by accident. They are built intentionally as we allow God to shape the way we love, encourage, and walk with one another. This week, Pastor Ben continued our Kingdom Relationships series by focusing on two foundational pillars: vision and faith.

Every relationship in our lives isn't meant to carry the same weight. Some are casual, others are seasonal, and a few become deep Kingdom relationships worth intentionally investing in. As Pastor Ben reminded us this Sunday, healthy Kingdom relationships don't happen by accident—they're built on self-control, responsibility, and truth.
