What You See, is What You Get!
Pastor Ben Diaz

Continuing in our series on Kingdom principles, Pastor Ben shared a powerful truth: “What you fix your eyes on will fill you—with faith, fear, or flesh.”

Using the story of Samson in Judges 14, he warned about the vulnerability of young people—as they grow into independence and freedom it is so easy today to start looking at the wrong things, which can lead to heartbreak and destruction.

"Where your eyes are set—that’s what you’ll see in your life."
What caught Samson’s eye eventually led to the loss of his eyes. Yes, God still used him to defeat the Philistines, but it cost him his life.

Pastor reminded us: what you fix your eyes on will fuel your flesh. Because the saying is true—“What you see is what you get.” That’s why it’s so important to keep your eyes on Jesus and not be conformed to this world.

He encouraged us to evaluate what we’re looking at—especially on social media. Is it lining up with truth? Is it building our faith or feeding fear and confusion? The enemy is always looking for an open door to deceive and lead us into false doctrine, so we must measure everything by the Word of God.

Paul gives a strong warning in Colossians 1:22-23:
"Yet now He has reconciled you to Himself through the death of Christ in His physical body. As a result, He has brought you into His own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before Him without a single fault. But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News."

Pastor reminded us of a simple yet profound truth from a children's song: “O be careful little eyes what you see…” He asked us to do a quick heart check by asking: “Who has my attention?”

Even a little false teaching can derail your faith if it’s not caught quickly. Paul says in Galatians 5:9, “This false teaching is like a little yeast that spreads through the whole batch of dough!”

Looking at the wrong things leads to fear and captivity. Pastor reminded us how the Israelites tolerated the giants in their land instead of driving them out. They compromised—and eventually became captives to what they were supposed to conquer. That’s what happens when we walk in fear: we focus on the problem instead of our all-powerful God!

He asked us to reflect on our fears and then “reverse engineer” them. What are you seeing that’s feeding that fear? Fear of failure? Poverty? Sickness? Death?

Then he challenged us to delete the fear pictures in our mind and replace them with images of truth and faith. Let God’s viewpoint guide you. Psalm 32:8 says,
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.”
That means God wants us to see things from His perspective!

Instead of being filled with fear or anxiety, we can align our viewpoint with His Word and be filled with faith and peace.

Pastor closed with this strong encouragement:
“Don’t put up with giants in your land. Get God’s perspective—see it His way.”
Because how you see things affects how you think. And your thoughts will either lead to faith and peace—or hopelessness and fear. Ultimately, what’s in your spirit is what shows up in your life. You get what you see.

So today, ask yourself: What am I looking at that’s fueling fear?
Then ask the Holy Spirit: What’s God’s perspective on this?
And begin to fix your eyes on what He says.

Fearless. Faith-filled. Kingdom living.

This Sunday at Vida, we were challenged with a simple but powerful question: Are we merely Christians who know the Word, or are we actually participating in what we believe?

We can spend so much of our lives looking for the extraordinary that we miss the sacredness of the ordinary. We wait for the next season. The breakthrough. The opportunity. The relationship to change. The circumstances to improve. We imagine that when something finally shifts, then our real life will begin. But God is not only the God of where we're going. He is the God of right here and right now.

We are living in what many have called an epidemic of loneliness. Although we are more connected technologically than ever before, many people still lack deep, meaningful friendships. As the Church, one of our greatest distinguishing marks should be our ability to love one another. Jesus said the world would recognize His disciples by the way they love.

Healthy relationships don't happen by accident. They are built intentionally as we allow God to shape the way we love, encourage, and walk with one another. This week, Pastor Ben continued our Kingdom Relationships series by focusing on two foundational pillars: vision and faith.

Every relationship in our lives isn't meant to carry the same weight. Some are casual, others are seasonal, and a few become deep Kingdom relationships worth intentionally investing in. As Pastor Ben reminded us this Sunday, healthy Kingdom relationships don't happen by accident—they're built on self-control, responsibility, and truth.
