Be Sure You Know What's in Your Covenant

Be Sure You Know What’s in Your Covenant!

By Pastor Ben Diaz

“This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.” Then he says, “I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds.” ~ Hebrews 10:16–17 (NLT)

When you take your car in for repair, doesn’t your heart sink when the mechanic says, “That’s not covered under your warranty”?

But what if the opposite happened? Imagine paying for oil changes at Jiffy Lube… only to find out later they were actually covered. That would be frustrating!

If you don’t know what your warranty includes, you can end up wasting time, energy, and money.

It’s the same with the New Covenant. If you don’t know what’s included, you’ll spend your time trying to get what already belongs to you.

But when you do know what you have, you can rest in the promises and live by faith, confident that your covenant covers it.

Pastor Ben asked a powerful question: What are you believing for? What promises are you standing on?

You don’t have to believe for just one thing at a time. Just like you’d bring your car in and have the mechanic fix everything at once, you can do the same with your life. Why not believe for everything that’s included in your covenant?

Here are just a few of the incredible promises included in the New Covenant:

  • Healing
  • Forgiveness
  • Eternal life
  • Abundant life here on earth
  • Authority in the name of Jesus!
  • The power of the Holy Spirit living within you
  • Provision for your needs — “though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich” (2 Corinthians 8:9)

Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, you have been fully reconciled to God. You have peace with Him—He’s not holding anything against you. You’ve been adopted into His family. He is your Abba Father.

And there’s more… you have an inheritance with Christ!

“And since we are His children, we are His heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory…” ~ Romans 8:17

So now, knowing what’s in your “warranty”—your New Covenant—let me ask you again:

What are you going to start believing for now?

Healthy relationships don't happen by accident. They are built intentionally as we allow God to shape the way we love, encourage, and walk with one another. This week, Pastor Ben continued our Kingdom Relationships series by focusing on two foundational pillars: vision and faith.

Every relationship in our lives isn't meant to carry the same weight. Some are casual, others are seasonal, and a few become deep Kingdom relationships worth intentionally investing in. As Pastor Ben reminded us this Sunday, healthy Kingdom relationships don't happen by accident—they're built on self-control, responsibility, and truth.

What makes a relationship truly strong? Many relationships begin with common interests. We connect over sports, hobbies, food, work, school, or shared experiences. While those things can bring people together, they aren't enough to sustain relationships that thrive for a lifetime. This Sunday, Pastor Ben reminded us that Kingdom relationships are built differently. Instead of being held together by circumstances, they are strengthened by the character of Christ. Faith, love, honor, truth, responsibility, and self-control become the sails that move our relationships forward.
