Do You Actually Know What Jesus Paid For?
Don’t Waste It
Pastor Ben Diaz
“But He was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.” — Isaiah 53:5
Continuing from the past two weeks on peace, healing, and mental wholeness, Pastor Ben brought us back to the heart of the gospel: the great exchange. Jesus voluntarily took everything that was wrong with us and exchanged it for His righteousness.
Looking closely at Isaiah 53:11 and several passages throughout Romans, 2 Corinthians, and Hebrews, we were reminded that the work of the cross was not only about healing and peace, but also about the forgiveness of sins and a clean conscience before God.
Through Jesus, we are justified by faith and made new. As 2 Corinthians 5:17–21 declares, we are no longer defined by our past, we are new creations and ambassadors of reconciliation. Because of Christ’s sacrifice, we have been given access to a better covenant and a transformed life.
Pastor emphasized that the grace of God is not a license to continue in sin. There is a difference between deliberately living in sin and occasionally missing the mark. When we treat the blood of Jesus as common and continue in sin without repentance, we miss the power and purpose of what Christ accomplished.
The cross not only forgives us, it empowers us. Through the righteousness of Christ, we are now empowered to live a holy life, free from the dominion of sin.
The challenge was clear: Don’t waste what Jesus paid for.
Live in the freedom, forgiveness, and transformation made possible through His sacrifice.
