Christianity: More Than Fire Insurance
Pastor Ben Diaz
“But He was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.” — Book of Isaiah 53:5, NLT
This Sunday, Pastor Ben reminded us that Christianity is more than “fire insurance.” It is not just about escaping hell someday, it is about living in the fullness of what Jesus accomplished through His finished work on the cross. Anchored in Book of Isaiah 53:1–5 and First Epistle of Peter 2:24, we were challenged to reconsider what salvation truly means.
Jesus carried our sickness.
He bore our mental torment and anguish.
He was pierced for our rebellion and crushed for our sin.
He was beaten so we could walk in shalom, nothing missing, nothing broken.
He was whipped so we could be healed.
The cross was not partial, it was complete.
Pastor emphasized that Jesus is not a respecter of persons, but He is a respecter of faith. Faith is persuasion, confidence, a settled belief in what Christ has already paid for. The benefits of the cross are not earned by personality or status, they are received by faith.
Salvation is more than forgiveness, it is wholeness, spirit, soul, and body. Jesus’ full reward is not simply that we are saved someday, but that we live in and partake of everything He came to freely give us now.
The question becomes, are we experiencing what He purchased?
What area of your life inspires you and at the same time stirs you up because you are not yet walking in the fullness of it, healing, peace, freedom, restoration?
Let that holy tension drive you toward deeper faith, not frustration. The price has already been paid. Now we learn to receive and live persuaded that His Word is true.
