Kingdom Relationships: Vision & Faith
Healthy relationships don't happen by accident. They are built intentionally as we allow God to shape the way we love, encourage, and walk with one another. This week, Pastor Ben continued our Kingdom Relationships series by focusing on two foundational pillars: vision and faith.
Faith Keeps God at the Center
Amos 3:3 asks, "Can two walk together unless they are agreed?" Kingdom relationships begin with a shared commitment to keep God as the source of our identity, value, and purpose.
When we expect another person to meet needs that only God can satisfy, relationships become unhealthy. Faith says, "I will not make you my source." Instead, our relationship with God sets the pace for every other relationship in our lives.
One simple question can reveal the health of a relationship: Is God part of the conversation? When He is absent, it's easy to drift toward dependency, manipulation, or placing unrealistic expectations on one another.
Vision Calls Out God's Purpose
Vision is the ability to remind people of what God has spoken over their lives. Kingdom friends don't simply sympathize during difficult seasons—they strengthen one another in the Lord.
Jonathan modeled this beautifully when he went to David and "strengthened his hand in God" (1 Samuel 23:16). Healthy friendships remind us of God's promises, His faithfulness, and the purpose He has placed within us. They lift our eyes from fear to hope.
Without this pillar, relationships often reinforce discouragement, unhealthy coping mechanisms, or hopelessness instead of pointing us back to Christ.
Take Inventory
Every relationship is an opportunity to grow. Ask yourself:
- Which Kingdom pillars are strongest in my relationships?
- Which ones need to be restored through repentance, forgiveness, or intentional growth?
- How can I better strengthen others in their walk with God?
As Pastor Ben reminded us, we can choose to keep our love on regardless of the outcome. Healthy relationships are not built on controlling others but on faithfully loving them the way Christ loves us.
Final Thought
A sailboat doesn't move simply because it has a destination. It moves when its sails catch the wind.
Likewise, relationships don't thrive because two people have good intentions. They thrive when they consistently catch the wind of these seven Kingdom values:
- Love creates safety.
- Honor makes people feel valued.
- Truth builds trust.
- Self-control creates peace.
- Responsibility creates reliability.
- Vision creates unity.
- Faith creates hope.
When all seven sails are full, relationships begin to move with remarkable power, joy, and peace.
