The Names Of My God
One of the greatest gifts God gives us in every season is the opportunity to know Him more deeply.
Pastor Ben reminded us that every new situation we face is an invitation to discover another aspect of God's nature. When challenges arise, we can ask:
"Lord, what part of Your nature do I need to come intervene in my life right now?"
Scripture reveals more than 200 names and titles for God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. This week we explored four of those names and discovered how they point us to Jesus, how they are fulfilled in Him, and how we are now called to carry His nature into the world around us.

Jehovah Rapha — The Lord Who Heals
Exodus 15:26
God revealed Himself to Israel as Jehovah Rapha after turning bitter waters sweet. His healing is not limited to physical bodies. He heals bitterness, brokenness, wounded hearts, and weary souls.
Jesus became the ultimate expression of Jehovah Rapha.
"By His wounds you have been healed." (1 Peter 2:24)
Because Jesus is our healer, we can bring His healing presence into the lives of others.
Jehovah Nissi — The Lord My Banner
Exodus 17:15
After Israel's victory over Amalek, Moses built an altar and called it Jehovah Nissi, "The Lord is My Banner."
A banner is a rallying point, a declaration of victory, and a symbol of whose side we are on.
Jesus fulfilled this name through His victory over sin, death, and the powers of darkness.
- John 16:33 — "I have overcome the world."
- Hebrews 2:14 — He destroyed the one who held the power of death.
- Colossians 2:15 — He disarmed the powers and authorities and triumphed over them by the cross.
- 1 Corinthians 15:57 — God gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our battles are fought from a position of victory because Jesus is our banner.
Jehovah Tsidkenu — The Lord Our Righteousness
Jeremiah 23:5-6
We cannot earn righteousness through our own efforts. God Himself became our righteousness through Christ.
Paul writes:
"Not having a righteousness of my own... but that which is through faith in Christ." (Philippians 3:9)
And:
"God made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God." (2 Corinthians 5:21)
Because of Jesus, we no longer stand before God striving for acceptance. We stand before Him accepted, forgiven, and made righteous.
Jehovah Shalom — The Lord Is Peace
Often we think of "shalom" as simply a Hebrew greeting, but it means much more.
Shalom speaks of wholeness, completeness, restoration, harmony, and flourishing in every area of life.
Jesus fulfills this name as our Prince of Peace.
- Isaiah 9:6
- John 14:27
- Colossians 1:19-20
- John 16:33
Many believers learn how to receive peace for themselves. But God's desire is that we become carriers of His peace.
When we walk into a room, a conversation, a conflict, a family gathering, or a workplace, we have the opportunity to release the peace of Christ into that environment.
This Week's Challenge
Let's study the names of God not simply to gain information, but to encounter Him more deeply.
As you spend time with Him this week, ask:
What aspect of God's nature do I need right now?
Then ask:
How can I carry that same attribute to someone else?
May we know Him as our Healer, our Banner, our Righteousness, and our Peace, and may His nature be revealed through us everywhere we go.
