Kingdom of Light vs. Darkness
Pastor Kara Díaz
"For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world." — 1 John 2:16
This Sunday, Pastor Kara delivered a powerful message on the reality of two opposing kingdoms: the Kingdom of Light and the kingdom of darkness. Through a sweeping journey across Scripture, beginning in Genesis and continuing through the New Testament, she revealed God's heart for His people and the enemy's ongoing strategy to deceive them.
Pastor Kara explained that Satan's hatred for humanity originates in his rebellion against God. Unable to overthrow the Creator, he seeks to attack what God loves most: His people. Throughout history, the enemy has worked through deception, confusion, violence, and perversion, particularly targeting the vulnerable and attempting to distort God's design.
Yet despite the enemy's efforts, Pastor Kara reminded the congregation of a powerful truth: those who belong to Christ cannot be cursed by the enemy. While Satan cannot steal a believer's identity in Christ, he continually works to deceive people into forgetting who they already are.
Just as he did in the Garden of Eden, the enemy still tempts people with lies about things they already possess. He whispers that we are lacking, powerless, rejected, or incomplete, when God has already provided everything we need through Christ.
Pastor Kara emphasized that through Jesus, God's work is no longer merely external but internal. Under the New Covenant, God transforms hearts, renews minds, and empowers believers to live differently. The Christian life is not about striving in our own strength but walking in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Drawing from Galatians 5:24, she reminded us that those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Believers are not powerless victims of temptation. Through Christ, we have authority over the flesh and the ability to walk in freedom and obedience.
Pastor Kara also highlighted Psalm 112 as a beautiful picture of the life God desires for His people. It describes men and women who are blessed, stable, generous, fearless, and full of light even when darkness surrounds them. Rather than being shaken by the circumstances of the world, they remain anchored in God's truth and faithfulness.
The message served as a strong reminder that believers are called to live with discernment, rooted in God's Word and aware of the spiritual realities around them. While darkness is present in the world, the Kingdom of Light is greater. Through Christ, we have already been transferred from darkness into His marvelous light and given authority to walk as children of God.
As Pastor Kara concluded, she encouraged the church to stand confidently in the identity, freedom, and authority already secured through Jesus Christ. The battle is real, but so is the victory that belongs to every believer who walks in the light.
