Does God Still Heal?

New Title

How to Pray for Healing

Ashley Terradez

This Sunday, Vida Church welcomed guest speakers Ashley and Carlie Terradez,
who shared powerful testimonies of miraculous healings in their own lives. Their daughter, Hannah, who had been diagnosed with an incurable disease and given just one week to live, is now completely healed and thriving. Carlie herself, once tormented by grand-mal seizures, has also been fully restored. Their stories are living proof that God’s healing power is real and available today!

Ashley’s message addressed one of believers' most fundamental questions: “Does God want to heal me?”  He firmly stated, “Healing is the dinner bell to the gospel. God loves to heal His people!”

In Psalm 103:2-3, we see that forgiveness and healing are inseparable: *“He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.”* Ashley emphasized that the same sacrifice Jesus made on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins also provides for our healing. It’s part of God’s nature—one of His names is Jehovah Rapha, meaning “I Am the God Who Heals.”

Many Christians know God is able to heal but wonder if He is willing. Ashley shared the story from Matthew 8:2-3, where a leper asked Jesus the same question:

Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached him and knelt before him. “Lord,” the man said, “if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.” Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” And instantly, the leprosy disappeared.

Malachi 3:6 tells us that God does not change. God’s nature is constant, and because Jesus is the perfect representation of God, Jesus is always able and willing to heal. Ashley urged us to have faith in this truth, reminding us that it is never God’s will for us to be sick. He simply said, “God is good, and the devil is bad.” Sickness comes from the enemy, but healing belongs to God’s children. He continued, "When you know it's God's will, you can pray with faith —100%."

Ashley also tackled the follow-up question: Why don’t we see everyone healed? This message is a powerful reminder that God’s healing is not just possible but promised to those who believe. Have faith because your healing belongs to you!

This Sunday at Vida, we were challenged with a simple but powerful question: Are we merely Christians who know the Word, or are we actually participating in what we believe?

We can spend so much of our lives looking for the extraordinary that we miss the sacredness of the ordinary. We wait for the next season. The breakthrough. The opportunity. The relationship to change. The circumstances to improve. We imagine that when something finally shifts, then our real life will begin. But God is not only the God of where we're going. He is the God of right here and right now.

We are living in what many have called an epidemic of loneliness. Although we are more connected technologically than ever before, many people still lack deep, meaningful friendships. As the Church, one of our greatest distinguishing marks should be our ability to love one another. Jesus said the world would recognize His disciples by the way they love.

Healthy relationships don't happen by accident. They are built intentionally as we allow God to shape the way we love, encourage, and walk with one another. This week, Pastor Ben continued our Kingdom Relationships series by focusing on two foundational pillars: vision and faith.

Every relationship in our lives isn't meant to carry the same weight. Some are casual, others are seasonal, and a few become deep Kingdom relationships worth intentionally investing in. As Pastor Ben reminded us this Sunday, healthy Kingdom relationships don't happen by accident—they're built on self-control, responsibility, and truth.
