How to Receive
An Inheritance from Anyone

Pastor Ben Diaz

Love one another with brotherly affection [as members of one family], giving precedence and showing honor to one another.
Romans 12:10 AMPC

Every born-again child of God is created in His image, with Christ’s anointing dwelling within them. This means that His gifts operate through each one of us—not just the so-called "super-Christians," pastors, or prayer ministers, but everyone, including the brand-new believer. Everyone has something to offer the body of Christ because it’s Christ within them who performs miracles, speaks encouraging words, and prays just what you need.

When we humble ourselves, honor others, and esteem them above ourselves—without judging whether that believer is "qualified" to pray for us, knowledgeable enough to lay hands on us, or spiritual enough to have a word for us—we open ourselves to receive from the gifts Christ has placed within them.

Pastor emphasized that while many seek direct answers to their prayers from God, they often miss the truth that God frequently uses His children, filled with Christ's anointing, to deliver those answers. Receiving these answers requires genuine humility, a willingness to honor others, and an openness to the Holy Spirit’s work through them on our behalf.

Pastor encouraged us to view each person as valuable, someone for whom Christ laid down His life. When we honor others—even those we find difficult to love—we affirm their worth, showing that they are precious to the Father and to us. Pastor explained that we can only give honor; we can’t demand it from others or control how they reciprocate.

Honor should be a lifestyle for believers. It involves regarding others as more important than ourselves and seeing them through God’s eyes. This principle plays out in marriage, parenting, and even in those everyday moments—like when someone takes the parking spot you’ve been patiently waiting for! Pastor shared a humorous story about how he was tested this week in living out his own sermon. You won’t want to miss the whole story, so

This Sunday at Vida, we were challenged with a simple but powerful question: Are we merely Christians who know the Word, or are we actually participating in what we believe?

We can spend so much of our lives looking for the extraordinary that we miss the sacredness of the ordinary. We wait for the next season. The breakthrough. The opportunity. The relationship to change. The circumstances to improve. We imagine that when something finally shifts, then our real life will begin. But God is not only the God of where we're going. He is the God of right here and right now.

We are living in what many have called an epidemic of loneliness. Although we are more connected technologically than ever before, many people still lack deep, meaningful friendships. As the Church, one of our greatest distinguishing marks should be our ability to love one another. Jesus said the world would recognize His disciples by the way they love.

Healthy relationships don't happen by accident. They are built intentionally as we allow God to shape the way we love, encourage, and walk with one another. This week, Pastor Ben continued our Kingdom Relationships series by focusing on two foundational pillars: vision and faith.

Every relationship in our lives isn't meant to carry the same weight. Some are casual, others are seasonal, and a few become deep Kingdom relationships worth intentionally investing in. As Pastor Ben reminded us this Sunday, healthy Kingdom relationships don't happen by accident—they're built on self-control, responsibility, and truth.
