The Secret to Promotion
Pastor Ben Diaz
In Sunday’s message, Pastor Ben powerfully unpacked the principle of humility, drawing from
Philippians 2:3-4: “Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.”
He reminded us that our worth isn’t tied to our achievements—it’s rooted in the ultimate price Jesus paid on the cross. The magnitude of that sacrifice leaves no room for pride. When we elevate ourselves above others, we lose the heart to serve and instead expect to be served.
Jesus is the perfect model of humility. Though He was God, He didn’t cling to His divine status but submitted to His Father’s will and served mankind, by laying down His life for us. Because of His humility, He was exalted to the highest position of all! Pastor Ben captured this truth in this: “The way up is down!” Honor and promotion comes not from chasing recognition but from a heart of humble service.
Luke 14:11 says, “Those who humble themselves will be exalted.” Pastor Ben urged us to recognize that refusing to learn from others, or thinking we know it all, is a form of pride. True growth happens only with a humble heart.
He also emphasized that humility allows us to submit to one another, not as a sign of lesser value, but as a recognition of God’s leadership order. We only enter the kingdom of God by His grace, not our works—understanding this truth empowers us to walk in humility and serve others.
Humility is the attitude that leads to promotion. Meekness—restraining our strength—is the action behind it. When we stop striving for recognition and focus on serving others, that’s when God steps in to elevate us.
Pastor Ben challenged us to examine our hearts: Are we living in pride or walking in humility? To dive deeper into this powerful message, watch the full sermon here.
