The Importance of Living with Eternity in Mind

The Importance of Living with Eternity in Mind

Pastor Kara Diaz

Back in January, Pastor Kara spoke about “God, Our Rewarder” from Isaiah 55:6. Now, at the halfway point of the year, the Holy Spirit is calling us to recalibrate—to pause, evaluate, and make any adjustments necessary to ensure we’re still walking in the perfect will of God.

Pastor Kara walked us through the different dispensations—the unfolding seasons of biblical history—from the creation of the world to where we are today. She reminded us how sin entered through Adam and Eve, how judgment came through the flood, and how confusion spread at the Tower of Babel. She taught on the Dispensation of the Promise, the exodus from Egypt, and the journey into the Promised Land. Then came the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ—ushering in a brand-new era.

We now live in the most exciting time of all: the Church Age, also known as the Dispensation of Grace (Acts 2). This is the time when we carry the good news of the gospel and live with the power of the Holy Spirit—Christ in us, the hope of glory!

In this dispensation, we’ve been empowered by the Spirit to walk in freedom. The blood of Jesus is enough—enough to break every chain and equip us to live boldly and victoriously for Him.

But Pastor Kara didn’t sugarcoat it: the enemy is working overtime to distract and weaken believers, trying to keep us powerless and passive. This is not the time to play small. This is the time to rise up and demonstrate the power of God to a watching world. Jesus is worthy of our everything—and He’s coming soon.

She reminded us that every prophecy leading up to the rapture has already been fulfilled. Matthew 24:36 tells us that only the Father knows the day of Christ’s return, but just like in the days of Noah, we must be spiritually alert. In verse 42, Jesus warns, “Watch therefore, for you do not know the hour your Lord is coming!”

When we live with that expectancy, our lives will be marked by passion, urgency, and boldness. We’ll live laid-down lives—burning with desire to bring others into the Kingdom and receive the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Why the delay in His coming? Because the Father’s heart is that none should perish. He’s patiently waiting for the harvest—and we have a role to play in bringing it in.

And don’t forget—there’s a reward for those who are watching!

2 Timothy 4:8 says: “And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.”

What’s coming next? The Dispensation of the Kingdom of God—the Millennial Reign, when we will reign with Christ!

To help us grasp the weight of eternity, Pastor Kara stretched a long rope across the front of the room. Just 5 inches of it represented our current life here on earth. The rest of it? That’s eternity.

She left us with a powerful question: Are you ready to see Jesus face to face?

Keep your lamp filled with oil, like the wise virgins in Jesus’ parable. Let’s be found ready, watching, and working when He returns.

If you feel like you’ve drifted off course—this is your moment to recalibrate and finish strong.

Revelation 3:11 says: “I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take away your crown.”

This Sunday at Vida, we were challenged with a simple but powerful question: Are we merely Christians who know the Word, or are we actually participating in what we believe?

We can spend so much of our lives looking for the extraordinary that we miss the sacredness of the ordinary. We wait for the next season. The breakthrough. The opportunity. The relationship to change. The circumstances to improve. We imagine that when something finally shifts, then our real life will begin. But God is not only the God of where we're going. He is the God of right here and right now.

We are living in what many have called an epidemic of loneliness. Although we are more connected technologically than ever before, many people still lack deep, meaningful friendships. As the Church, one of our greatest distinguishing marks should be our ability to love one another. Jesus said the world would recognize His disciples by the way they love.

Healthy relationships don't happen by accident. They are built intentionally as we allow God to shape the way we love, encourage, and walk with one another. This week, Pastor Ben continued our Kingdom Relationships series by focusing on two foundational pillars: vision and faith.

Every relationship in our lives isn't meant to carry the same weight. Some are casual, others are seasonal, and a few become deep Kingdom relationships worth intentionally investing in. As Pastor Ben reminded us this Sunday, healthy Kingdom relationships don't happen by accident—they're built on self-control, responsibility, and truth.
